Watermelon Steak

Warm fruit is a huge point of discussion for many. We at Primal Beings love warm fruit as a separate dish entirely. Peaches, cherries, pie or crumble, we make them all. But even we were taken aback a moment when we found the suggestion of Grilled Watermelon.

But our worries were completely unjustified and while perfecting the recipe we found a whole new dimension to the refreshing cold Watermelon. Just a little heat and some spices takes almost all that crispy cold out of them and leaves a soft sweet but still refreshing taste. A must for between all the fatty barbecue food to clean your palate.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 tsp. Chili powder 1 tsp. Sea Salt Juice of half a Lemon 1 tsp. Dried Rosemary 5 tbsp. Olive Oil Watermelon

  1. Mix all the ingredients except the Watermelon. The given amount is enough for about a quarter of a large Watermelon.

  2. Cut the Watermelon in slices of about 1,5 cm thick. Leave the rim on the red juicy flesh, this will make it easier to turn the slices.

  3. Rub the mix on both sides of the Watermelon.

  4. Use a BBQ or hot grill(pan) to bake the Watermelon Steaks. About 4 minutes on each side should be enough. You will notice the flesh turning to red instead of the light pink it starts at.

  5. Serve warm and enjoy.
